 These cabbage and cheese stuffed bread rolls are a delightful and unique snack or appetizer. Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups green cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

For the Bread Rolls:

  • 6–8 medium-sized dinner rolls or buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)

 

Instructions

  • Prepare the Filling:
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Sauté garlic and onion until fragrant.
    • Add the shredded cabbage and cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened.
    • Season with smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
    • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
    • Stir in shredded cheese and parsley.
  • Prepare the Rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Slice off the tops of the rolls and hollow out the center, being careful not to break the bottoms or sides.
  • Stuff the Rolls:
    • Fill each hollowed roll with the cabbage and cheese mixture, pressing gently to pack it in.
    • Replace the tops of the rolls.
  • Bake:
    • Brush the tops of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds or poppy seeds if desired.
    • Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the tops are golden and the filling is heated through.
  • Serve:
    • Let cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
