Ingredients:

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 pound ground beef or pork
  • 1/2 cup cooked rice
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef or vegetable broth
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

 

Instructions

  • Prepare the Cabbage:
    • Bring a large pot of water to a boil.
    • Carefully remove the cabbage leaves and blanch them for 1–2 minutes until softened.
    • Set aside.
  • Make the Filling:
    • In a bowl, combine ground meat, rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, and paprika.
    • Mix until well combined.
  • Assemble the Rolls:
    • Place a small amount of filling in the center of each cabbage leaf.
    • Roll tightly, tucking in the sides to secure.
  • Cook the Rolls:
    • Heat olive oil in a large pot or baking dish.
    • Arrange the rolls seam-side down.
    • Pour tomato sauce and broth over the rolls.
    • Cover and simmer on low heat for 1–1.5 hours or bake at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour.
  • Serve:
    • Enjoy warm with a dollop of sour cream or a side of crusty bread!
